Ladies and Gents,
The Random Thought of the Week hails all the way from England. While he may spell the word ‘color’ wrong, play the kazoo, and name his pet hamster ‘Hamster’, Harry Styles makes undeniably good music. With his flamboyant and occasionally controversial style (personally, I am a fan of the skirts), Harry has built one of the biggest music empires ever, while only occasionally spitting on other celebrities. So, my friends, let’s take a deeper dive into how the Englishman Harry Styles has become a staple of American Culture.
Let’s go back to 2010, where the world starts to come out of an era of chunky shoes, leather jackets, and yes, jorts. Harry Styles auditions for X-Factor, the British talent show, but really doesn’t impress any of the judges. Evil entertainment mogul Simon Cowell, seeing his potential, combines him with 4 other young singers and forms One Direction.
Leap forward 5 years, and One Direction breaks up (I know, so devastating for so many of us) after 5 studio albums and numerous singles. To this day, it is thought that the band made north of 110 million dollars (of course, Harry would surpass that by himself - not so bad for someone who suffers from ophidiophobia - the fear of snakes).
Solo Career
Harry released his first solo album Harry Styles in 2017. Because it was the 9th best album of 2017, the tour, in some locations, sold out in under a minute. After the 9-month tour, the revenue totaled just over 63 million dollars. I don’t know about you, but I think he should share some of that with the Random Thought of the Week Newsletter.
He released his next album Fine Line in 2019. With his fan base, telling any joke about this wildly successful album without anyone unsubscribing would be walking a fine line (gotta have at least one stupid pun right?). Rolling Stone featured the album in “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” and listed it as the 23rd best album of the year (a snub if you ask me).
His next full-length album was by far his most successful - Harry’s House. The vinyl sales alone surpassed 7 million in just one week. Winning three Grammys, the album finished second in the United States and first in the U.K. (who would expect anything less from a man with four nipples).
In 2021, he commenced his Love on Tour show tour which included songs from both Fine Line and then Harry’s House after it was released. While the tour is still going, it has generated more than 401 million dollars in revenue. While he won’t keep most of that, I would expect his net worth to keep growing in the next few months (as if he needs more money).
His…Acting Career?
Whoa whoa whoa - we’re still forgetting about one important piece of Harry’s life. Harry Styles is starting to dabble in acting. He starred in the movie Don’t Worry Darling which is 38 percent rotten on Rotten Tomatoes (deservedly so?). He also made his MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) debut cameo as “Eros”, the brother of Thanos. Will he become a significant character? Probably not, but he made the movie Eternals so much better.
My friends, I hope you enjoyed the Random Thought of the Week. If you learned something (who knew he had four nipples?), please share and subscribe.

In the meantime, I’d like to end with a quote from two great philosophers, Bill and Ted. “Be excellent to each other, and party on dudes!”
